Back to School 2014

It's hard to believe that summer is over and the school year is upon us!  It's also hard to believe that this will be Avery's last year at Klein Weekday.  I was extremely emotional this year when I saw people post pictures of their little ones going off to Kindergarten.  That will be us next year.  Sigh...

 

 This year, Avery was able to bring a backpack to school instead of the tan bags that they've used in the past.  She chose the Frozen backpack that Garrett and Reagan gave her for her birthday.  She looked SO big in it! 

 

 She happily walked into her class.  I even had to go up to her and say bye because she was already busy having fun.  We are off to a good start!

Summer!

The summer seriously flew by.  I have no idea how it happened but it did!  Thankfully I captured some events on my Iphone.  Here's what happened over the summer months...

 

 -We got Ave's haircut at the mall (after one unsuccessful trip)

 

-Chloe started standing more on her own

 

-Went to the Children's Museum

 

 

 

-Went on a fun date night to celebrate Lindsay's 30th and Kyle's 31st birthdays

 

-Avery took gymnastics classes with her bffs, Luke and Garrett



 

-Dressed ourselves ;)

-Indulged in some free Texans slushes when the preseason began

-Celebrated 8 years of marriage with my favorite hubby

 

-Avery became 100% infatuated with Legos

-Celebrated Sophia's 3rd birthday 

 

-Spent lots of time playing in our game room

 

 

 

 

-Tried to talk about a letter of the alphabet a day

 

-Went to the park...once.  It was soooo hot that this didn't happen often!

 

-Played with friends at Meet the Teacher

-Started getting VERY excited about Christmas in Hobby Lobby (in August)!

 

I am always ready for a break from schedules when summer hits but am equally excited to get the schedule back by the end of summer.  I love all that the school year entails...holidays, Mom's bible study, etc.  It's been fun but we are ready for the school year!

Wild Oak Ranch

About a week before school started back up, we went to Wild Oak Ranch in San Antonio for a little mini-vacation.  It was a fun way to end the summer.

 When we got there, Avery was giddy with excitement!

 

 

Bill found a pizza place nearby on his phone.  The area was a bit sketchy but the pizza turned out to be really good.

 

 

When we were driving back to the hotel, Bill and I both spotted this low rider car with a last name printed on the back window.  At the exact same time, we both said, "What, what".  I don't know why.  I have no clue what we were thinking but Ave thought it was hilarious and repeated it the entire way back.

 

Chloe thought Avery saying "what, what" was equally hilarious.

 

 Just about every square inch of the hotel was amazing to Ave including the bathroom mirror and the balcony.

 

 

The next morning, we ate some breakfast, went to a time share type meeting (that got us an amazing rate on the hotel), and then got some major pool time in.

After a fun day at the pool, we went to dinner at one of the restaurants on the property.  It was a casual, fun place and the food was so good.

 



Somehow Avery ended up with three drinks :)

 

Next up was some s'more making. It was one of my favorite parts of the trip.  To say that Avery had a great time would be a major understatement!  Chloe on the other hand was a little less enthusiastic.  I couldn't tell if she was scared of the fire or really wanted s'mores.

Bill got really handy with our camera timer.

Bill had his fantasy football draft that evening (I just LOVE football) so Ave and I watched Rio after Chloe went to sleep.  I loved getting some one on one time with my oldest girl.

 



 

The next morning, we checked out of the hotel and went to the San Antonio Zoo before heading home.  I have fond memories of taking Avery there when she was a little over a year old, so I was excited bring Chloe this time.

 

Along for the ride.  She was so patient and chill the whole time.

 

The hippos were my favorite part last time so we went back to check them out.  The fact that it was air conditioned inside the hippo exhibit was a wonderful bonus. 

 

 It was a fun trip!  Now back to reality...and the school year!
