Pumpkin Patch 2011

It is my absolute favorite time of year- the beginning of all the holidays.  We decided to kick off the holidays by making a trip back to the pumpkin patch!  We met all of Ave's best friends up there too!  I love to see the difference that one year makes!

Here is a little disclaimer- I don't think that Avery is smiling in ANY of these pictures!  I've said this before but she really despises the camera these days.

Ave and Garrett are ready to check out some pumpkins!

We set Avery down in the pumpkins and she was not so sure of it.

This is what happened next

Family pic!

Chelsea and Landon

Landon was the best sport of them all.  He was content as could be balancing on pumpkins!

I love comparing the pictures from last year to this year.  Here are some comparisons...

Last year-

This year-

Last year-

This year
Two out of three wasn't so bad!  They had way better things to be doing than sticking their heads through holes!

I'm happy to report that Ave's cheeks have stayed just about the same over the course of the year!

Now the fun began! We wanted to get a picture of all the kiddos together which is no easy task with an age range of 3 months to almost 2 years!

We figured that trapping some of them in a wagon was our best bet.

Landon was so still on Jackson's lap!

Goldfish were given out as an incentive to sit still.  Luke decided that Garrett REALLY needed some!

After the group pictures, we took a few more random ones then went to get in line for the train ride!

Waiting in line for the train.  I love that Luke would stop and "cheese" with me!

They were being very patient.  It was a little toasty in the sun and we had to wait for a little while.

We made it!  Doesn't Ave look thrilled?!

Luke was taking it all in

I love this picture of Garrett.  He looks so sweet and innocent.

Ave decided to wave to all the Christmas trees as we went by.
Avery definitely enjoyed the Pumpkin Patch more this year.  I can't wait to post pictures of Ave all dressed up for Halloween!

The Zoo!

Last Friday, Bill, Avery, and I went to the Houston Zoo.  Stephanie went last week and said that there was fun Halloween stuff going on plus it was nice weather so we decided to go.

There was a little pumpkin patch area where each child could take a pumpkin and decorate it.  This is what my child decided to do instead of picking a pumpkin...

Sort them!  She took them out one by one and then when we said that she had taken out enough, she put them back one by one.  Finally she had picked her special one.

Next we went to see some animals!  We first went to the elephants which she was terrified of.  She was really scared of the big animals but she loved the lions.  It kind of freaked me out that only a little piece of glass separated us from this animal that could rip us to shreds.

We fed the giraffes but again, Avery was scared of being so close to them.  She liked to watch them from far away.

Next up was the petting zoo.

Waving to the animals

Doing a little dance

Still unsure

Finally, after Bill told her that the goat was just like Grace, she got up the courage to pet it.

We went to this area that had some kind of antelope or something along those lines and Avery loved watching them and doing some dance moves.  I don't know what she was thinking but she kept doing strange things with her legs.

We call this move the "hike a leg".  She does this ALL the time!

Then we came upon the monkeys- her favorite!  She loved saying "ooh ooh, aah, ahh" to all of them.

This is Avery's posture when she really wants to get somewhere quickly.  She just had to get to the next monkey!

Finally, we checked out the aquarium.  Avery has always loved fish, especially huge ones.

Although she looks absolutely miserable, I promise she was having fun.  She just really hates smiling for the camera!

I love that Avery is getting older and is really started to enjoy these activities!  We had a great time!
