Father's Day!

I am way behind on blogging because it has been such a busy summer so far; however, I am going to make a big effort to catch up starting now! A few weeks ago was Father's day. We first celebrated with my Dad after Avery's b-day party since my family was all in one spot. We grilled some hamburgers and played a couple of rounds of mexican train.  I feel so blessed to have grown up with a great Dad and an excellent example of how to live my life.  I thought my dad was so strict when I was growing up but now I can completely see the necessity of it...especially when raising girls.  I'm sure that we will be the same with Avery and all of our future kiddos!

On Sunday, after church we came home and attempted to put Ave down for a nap.  Well, that didn't happen (she had started to make the change to 1 nap a day) so we headed up to The Woodlands for some pizza at Grimaldi's.  There was a little bit of a wait so we hung out at this little field area next to the restaurant.  There's a little splash area for kids to run through and a little rock waterfall nearby so Avery had lots to look at!

Ave had way too much to look at to pay attention to the camera

The pizza was definitely worth the wait.  It was some of the most amazing pizza that I have ever tasted.  We watched it come out of the brick oven and go right to our table.  They also gave little pieces of dough to the kids which Ave loved.

After lunch, the plan was to go to the Childrens' Museum in the Woodlands but Avery desperately needed a nap by this time.   Instead we stopped by TCBY and headed home for some down time.  Bill's one request for Father's Day was to be able to watch the A&M game so Ave and I made some dinner for him and took it easy the rest of the day.

1st day as a dad

I love watching Billy with Avery.  I always knew that he would be a great dad but he really has exceded my expectations.  Avery loves spending time with him, and it's so sweet to see her whole face light up when he gets home from work.  I feel so fortunate to have found such a great husband that happens to be an amazing father as well!
