Two weeks ago we had our 20 week ultrasound. After all the anxiety early on in the pregnancy, I really tried to relax about this appointment. I was so excited when the morning finally came. I think that finding the sex of your baby out is seriously one of the most fun and joyous times of life!
My mom stayed home with Avery while Bill and I went to the appointment. We had a really nice ultrasound tech (very different than our last). She was thorough and assured us that our baby was looking healthy and great! Then she told us that we were having another sweet little girl! I think she followed it up by saying "it's definitely a hamburger, not a hot dog!"
I had a gut feeling all along that our baby was going to be a girl (along with the fact that no one in my family has produced a boy in decades :) but my pregnancy had been different in lots of ways so there was this little doubt in my mind. If you asked Avery before the appt, she would have told you that she was definitely having a sister, no doubt about it. Sure enough she was right, we are continuing on with the pink! I'm so happy that Avery will experience having a sister. I think having sisters is so special, and I can't wait to see what their relationship is like.
We stopped at a little cupcake place on the way home and picked up a pink cookie for Avery to open. It's a good thing we weren't having a boy because there was literally not a single blue item in the store!

| I'm not sure what was more exciting to her- the news or the cookie. I'm betting on the cookie! |
Bill took the rest of the morning off from work and we all spent some time getting out girly things in the nursery. Avery made about 15 trips to her room to fill up the bookshelf with little books. She is genuinely so excited about her, and I know she is going to be a great big sister. The next day, her MDO teacher told me that she informed all of the teachers on the playground about her baby sister.
Now that we know the gender, everything seems more real! We decided on the name, Chloe, but haven't figured out the middle name yet. We can't wait to meet our new little girl!
