On one of Bill's Fridays off, we decided to go to the zoo. It had been a while since we'd taken Avery and Chloe had never been. It started off a little rocky since EVERYONE decided to take a field trip that day. STAAR testing had just finished so I guess people decided to celebrate by going on a field trip. Due to the extreme volume of buses, they literally blocked off like half of the parking lot. There were no.spots.anywhere. I have a few choice words for field trips but I'll keep them to myself :).
Bill dropped us off after looking for a while, and I bought the tickets. While we were waiting, we decided to look around close to the entrance.
Bill called about twenty minutes later to tell me that there were no spots to be found. He finally saw a car backing up while he was waiting on one of the parking lot rows. When he started pulling in, the person informed him that he had "promised his spot" to another woman that was a few rows over. This did not go over well. I was starting to get concerned that I was going to have to rescue Bill from driving straight into a brick wall but eventually he found a spot far, far away. After a minute or two of deep breaths, we were able to finally enjoy the zoo together.
We had never been on the train ride before so we decided to end our day with that. Luck was with us thankfully, and we were able to buy tickets and get straight onto the train.

At one of the stops, there was a crowd of people nearby. One scary guy was yelling a lot of expletives and I thought for sure we were going to witness a shooting right then and there. I tried to talk extra loudly to Ave so that she wouldn't hear all of the f-bombs going off left and right and thankfully, no physical violence erupted.
Avery is obsessed with trains so she thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The train ended up being the perfect end to our day!
This cracks me up!!! From parking to profanity, why must the zoo always have a little extra drama?! I 100% feel Bill's pain. Glad that ya'll were still able to make the best of it and have a great time!
