We decided after some debate to get a DOC band for Colin. It would help to round out his head and make it more symmetrical. I was really worried about how he would handle it (would he be able to sleep, get sweaty, etc.) and, if I'm 100% honest, what kind of comments we would get on a daily basis.
He got fitted and then placed in one a few days before Christmas. It was so much less of an ordeal than I thought.

The helmet was just SO white. I contacted a woman that paints them but it was going to cost roughly $300 so I chose to do it myself. After Christmas I started the task of decorating it.
I think it turned out so cute! I guess his fate is now decided for him...A&M brainwashing has already begun!
He wore the helmet for about 2 1/2 months and thankfully got it off right before it started to getting warm outside. I think the only thing that I really didn't like was the feel of the plastic while rocking him at night. One of my favorite things to do with him since he is my last baby is to rock him and snuggle him as he falls asleep. The hard helmet was just uncomfortable to do this with him but really was such a small price to pay for the long term benefit.
The before and after pictures were amazing to see. He gained so much length from front to back. He also became much more symmetrical too. We got so many comments from people telling me that their child wore a helmet too. It is so much more common these days than it used to be. It turned out to be a great experience. I am so happy we chose to do it!
