Avery wanted to do another gymnastics birthday party this year so we went to Maximum Athletics.  They just opened at a new location so the gym was brand new.  All of the kids had a blast, especially the birthday girl!

After the party, we went home and opened gifts.

It was a great day celebrating Ave!

Here's a little bit about our favorite 6 year old-

Avery loves her family so much.  I adore the way she speaks about Colin and Chloe.  She also tells Bill and me that we are the best parents in the world so frequently!  She is so sweet and just loves spending time with us.  One on one time with us is very important to her too.  One night Bill took her to our bedroom to play an uninterrupted game of Frozen Monopoly Jr. and she kept telling him that it was the best night ever!  She is so patient with the littler ones but also needs that slightly more "grown up" time too.

She tends to be on the shy side but surprises us sometimes.  When she started Girl Scouts this past year, I was blown away with how outgoing she was during the first meeting.  If she knows a familiar face or two, she feels so much more comfortable and comes out of her shell.  She is definitely a creature of habit and is pretty resistant to change but I guess I am too so the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Avery is very studious.  She amazed us with how well she learned to read over the past year.  The summer before school started, she began to read Biscuit books pretty well.  By the end of Kindergarten she was reading chapter books and qualified for GT in reading.  We are so proud with how well she does in school  and all of the effort she puts into it.

She is also very much a rule follower.  One day a little before Christmastime, she burst into tears when she got into my car after school.  She told me that she got a mark in her folder for not following directions.  It absolutely devastated her!  She cares so much about doing the right thing and making us proud.  We had to spend some time explaining that people make mistakes and that nobody is perfect.  We also told her that it was amazing that she had gone that long without getting any marks.  She just kept asking us if we were still proud of her.  Sweet girl.  Makes me love her even more. :)

Avery could spend countless hours making a book (like today's Fall Book that she created) or working on a craft.  She also can go hang with the boys outside running around and tackling each other (like at Chloe's birthday party at the park).  She really is such a wonderful mix of girly and tough.  She adores wrestling with Bill and usually wants to keep going until inevitably someone gets hurt.

She still is a picky eater but has gotten soo much better at trying new things and finishing foods that she doesn't particularly like.  Her favorite foods are spaghetti and meatballs, sliders, fruit, chicken parmesan,  macaroni and cheese, and any and all desserts.

We couldn't love our Avery any more!  How on earth do we have a six year old?!?
