Easter 2013

This past weekend was filled with Easter related activities.  We started our Saturday off with a little egg dying.

Of course this girl had to decorate in her Cinderella pjs.

I bought some paint sticks for the occasion.  They were little Q-tip sticks with paint in the middle.  These were definitely her favorite part.  Her hands were stained for quite a while afterwards :).

We went to church on Saturday night so that Sunday morning wouldn't be quite so chaotic.  I just love hearing my girl tell me all about how Jesus is alive!  We've really tried to talk more about Jesus, his resurrection, and the reason for Easter rather than playing up the Easter bunny and candy.  I love for Avery to get excited about all of that too but want to make sure that she knows that is not what Easter is all about.  I've been amazed at how much she has been able to comprehend at such a young age!

Easter morning was really relaxing and full of sweet memories for our family.  Ave woke up and instantly wanted to go find her eggs outside.

After hunting eggs, we came inside to check out her Easter basket.

Ave and I made some pancakes for breakfast, and we took it really easy.  That is not how many of our holidays are spent, so it was really nice not to have to rush anywhere.

My parents usually have lots of family over at their house, but I decided to host it this year. When everyone was arriving, the weather quickly took a turn for the worse.  Thankfully, it cleared up by the time we were finished eating and turned out to be a nice evening.

Ready to hunt more eggs!

Poor Samantha had a huge blister on her foot so my uncle got creative.  This is how she hunted eggs :)

We had 4 dozen confetti eggs so it got crazy in our backyard really fast.  Everyone left that evening with confetti in their hair.  Avery tells me that her favorite part of that afternoon was cracking an egg on Daddy's head.

My parents brought a pinata.  It turned out to be a total hit.  Both kids and adults took turns, and it turned out to be pretty hilarious to watch.

Bill really liked to pull the pinata away from people so they were swinging at air.

I think the winners for the most intense hits go to my mom and Kel.  They definitely are related!

Afterwards, we came back inside for some dessert.  This was definitely the most still all three of the girls were at one time.

I really enjoyed our Easter weekend.  I didn't feel like we had to rush to be anywhere, and I just loved seeing Avery get so excited about everything!  Another great perk about Easter is that it means backyard barbecues, swimming, and vacation are all right around the corner!
