One Month Old!

The first month flew by.  I already feel emotional about how fast time is going by with Chloe.  I am really trying to soak this newborn phase in as much as possible.  I am so much more relaxed this time around and Chloe seems to be a little easier than Avery was at this age (we have no big witching hour) so I have really enjoyed it.

At 4 days old, we went to our pediatrician and Chloe looked great but her weight had dropped to 7 lb. 5 oz. I took her back a week later, and she weighed 7 lb. 12 oz. They were hoping she would be 2 oz more. I was told to try to feed a little more frequently and wake her more for feedings.  At around 3 weeks, I went back for a weight check.  She had gained what she needed and more thankfully. At her one month checkup, here were her stats-
Weight- 9 lbs. 7 oz  (52%)
Length- 22 inches (78%)
Head- 14.5 inches (41%)

Chloe has recently started sleeping like a champ.  During the first couple of days of her life, she didn't go to sleep until 4 am.  Her days and nights were completely mixed up.  This made me a little nervous to say the least!  It worked itself out and after about a week or two I was having to wake her in the night to feed her.  After getting the okay from Dr. Nandwani regarding her weight, I started letting her sleep until she naturally woke to eat.  A couple days before she turned 1 month, we put her in a rock and play that we borrowed from Lindsay.  She began giving us a roughly 6 hour stretch in the night.  I can honestly say I feel so much more rested this time around.

Breastfeeding has gone well so far also.  She was so sleepy during the first week or two and would fall asleep during feedings so it would be tough to get her to eat enough.  Once she started becoming more alert, she got better.  Lately, she'll eat around every 2-3 hours and will cluster feed in the evenings.  By the end of the month, I would usually feed her twice in the night.

Chloe started off in newborn diapers and is now in size 1.  I forgot how many diapers you go through with a newborn!  It hasn't been all that long since Avery wore diapers but I quickly forgot!

Tummy time on her mat

When Chloe was around two weeks old, we decided to brave going to Galveston for some newborn pictures on the beach.  Emily Crump was offering free digital images if we were willing to drive there.  I am always up for more pictures of my little ones so Kelly, Avery, Chloe, and I loaded up for the trip.  It felt great getting out of the house and ended up being really fun!

It was so beautiful outside and Chloe was the perfect little model

Sweet girl just slept the whole time

We went to this cool restaurant and I think this was Ave's favorite part!

Thank goodness for I Phones!  It's so much harder to take pictures with my camera these days.  I never have it by me but I sure can take a lot with my phone!

At around 1 week old, we noticed a red mark on Chloe's neck. It turns out that it is a birthmark called a hemangioma that will continue to get bigger until around 1 1/2 years and then will shrink and hopefully disappear around 4 years old. It thankfully is not in a place that bothers her so it isn't a big deal at all.

I love how much Avery loves her sis.

Chloe girl at exactly one month old

One of Chloe's new BFF's was born exactly a month after her.  Tiffany had baby Logan about a month early but he weighed exactly the same amount as Chloe.  She did awesome and he is as cute as can be!

Some one month shots.  It happened to be a Saturday that A&M played.  Why is it impossible to find cute Baylor outfits but A&M stuff is everywhere?!

Chloe started smiling around two weeks old.  I didn't think it was real at first but she kept doing it! We never had the camera around when she did it though.

Bill decided to help her out :)

Finally got a little one with the phone

Bath time!

We've loved getting to know our second little girl.  I could literally just sit and stare at her all day.  I'm loving having a baby around again and want to freeze her at this age forever!
