Right before Christmas, we had our 20 week ultrasound. I'm not sure that I have ever been so excited to find out the sex of our baby. We always knew we wanted three kids so knowing that this was our last one made it even more exciting. I really didn't have a huge preference either way. There are definite perks to both but I just needed to know!
With Avery and Chloe, we found out in the ultrasound room. This time we decided to wait and open the envelope in private so that we could really share the moment with each other rather than in a dark room with the sonographer. We made it a couple streets from our house before the suspense was too much. We pulled into a parking lot, opened the envelope, and just cried happy tears.
My mom has always wanted me to do a gender reveal cake so I decided to do one with this last pregnancy. I baked a cake and went over to their house to surprise our family and the girls with the news!
It's a BOY!
I had honestly assumed all along that we would have three girls. I know girls. I like girls. It would be fun to have three of a kind. However, now that we know we are having a boy, we are beyond thrilled at all of the experiences that we get to have that wouldn't have happened otherwise. God knew exactly how our family should be, and I couldn't be more thankful! I love that Avery and Chloe will be close sisters and always have each other. I love that they will get to experience having a brother too. So special.
It took Avery a little while to wrap her head around having a boy. Apparently she told a friend's mom that she was "a little devastated at having a brother at first." She then followed it up with the fact that she is now happy about it. I'm glad she's come around. ;)
We are beyond excited to see our sweet boy in a few months and welcome some colors other than pink and purple into our house!
