2012 so far...

Here is what we've been up to so far this year...

1. We had some friends over for the 1st Texans playoff game ever.

Luke and Ave took a bath together that night.  They will probably be mortified of these pictures in the future, but they were so sweet together!

2. We had a disastrous night at Shogun (a hibachi place by our house).  We decided to go with the Talkingtons one night and thought that Ave and Luke would just love the excitement at the table.  Wrong!!!  It was a nightmare of epic proportions!  Everything was going great, besides the fact that we were sharing a table with the most awkward, nonspeaking family of 3.  We got our salads and soup and were having a great time until the guy came to make our food.  He lit something on fire and then we were done for.  Ave kept crying and trying to turn around in her high chair to get away from the man.  I took her to look at the fish at the front of the restaurant for a while which seemed to do the trick.  Luke joined us because he figured if Ave was doing something more exciting then he should be doing that too!  Every time I tried to take Ave back, she would have the same reaction.  After the man was finished cooking the food, I thought she would be fine.  Nope! After attempting to sit in the nonhibachi part of the restaurant unsuccessfully with everyone staring at the screaming child, we decided that it was time to take our cold shogun food to go.  Ash and Kyle stayed but said that when another table was having their food prepared, he just kept yelling, "home, home, home!"  It was a really special night to say the least.  Oh well, you live and you learn!  I guess we won't be attempting that place again for many many years!

3. We had a belated Christmas playdate.  I tried to make this happen before Christmas but sickness and other obligations kept it from happening.  Our celebration just prolonged the wonderful holiday a little bit longer!

4.  We have braved the sometimes chilly weather.

5.  We've fed some ducks.

6. Avery's obsession with horses has been deepened.  My mom feeds this obsession every time she is over my parents' house.  (Some of the pictures were taken on an IPhone so I couldn't make them the normal size)

My parents took Avery to the barn where my mom rides.  Apparently she was a little apprehensive at first but was neighing like crazy by the time they were leaving!

7.  Climbing into every chair in our house.  She particularly loves sitting in front of the mirror in my bathroom to "get ready."  If there is any makeup accessible, she will try to put it on.

2012 is off to a good start!  We can't wait to see what else it's got in store for us!
