After a good nap, we headed over to my aunt and uncle's house for more presents and dinner to celebrate with my mom's side of the family. Samantha, my cousin, is 8 months older than Avery and she got a ton of exciting new toys for Christmas. Ave was in heaven! She literally played with Samantha's toys for the entire time.
| The cool new ball pit where the girls spent the majority of their time |
| Ave also watched the dogs from this window. She was very concerned about them. |
We started presents pretty quickly after getting there so that we could eat dinner at a decent hour.
| Ready! |
| Sweet Sophia's 1st Christmas! |
| Our white elephant exchange was quite amusing |
| All the action tired Sophia out |
After dinner, Avery found a barrel of monkeys. She played with them for a good 30 minutes and enjoyed every bit of it...except when Samantha would come knock them all down. :)
| She very meticulously added each monkey |
Each year, Monica comes up with something "extra special" for us to wear. It started off with mustaches and then was followed by large clip on earrings for men and women. This year she found packages of teeth.
| Baby girl was real confused |
| She slowly started to figure them out |
| And voila...here are mine! |
| I think this might be our only family photo from Christmas this year. |
That evening, we headed to my parents' house in Magnolia for our second annual Christmas night sleepover! We got there a little later than planned so we put the babies to bed first and then our gifts to each other
| Steph got us all matching pjs! |
Since the kiddos didn't get to open gifts the night before, we had them open the following morning.
| Ave was so happy to be surrounded by dogs |
| Her first doll! |
| She had to take periodic brakes to give Hannah some lovin' |
| Sophie girl refueling to open more presents |
| It amazed me how quickly she caught on to feeding her baby. I guess it comes naturally. |
| She had to make sure Hannah was fed too |
To finish up all the celebrations, Papa and Jackie came over for Brunch.
We had such a special Christmas this year. I just loved watching Avery experience all the joys of the holidays now that she understands more of what was going on. We were able to spend lots of time with family while still getting some time to just the 3 of us. It couldn't have been better!
