I have come to realize that New Years Eve is just a little different with children involved. I never really celebrated like crazy in the past but now we have become even more mellow. When an 8 pm bedtime is involved, there just aren't tons of options that don't require a babysitter.
We decided that we would rather celebrate with Ave than go somewhere without her, so we invited the Arrants over for some NYE fun. They brought Spring Creek BBQ over, what could be better??? After some yummy dinner, we got out some blowers- not sure if that's what you call them! Avery could have played with them all night.

Once it got dark, we went outside to do some fireworks. Bill got some extremely mild ones so that babies would enjoy them. We started out with the little poppers that you throw down onto the ground. Avery and Garrett LOVED them!

Next, we pulled out the big guns! Can't you tell?
Somehow, the tiny specks of light way out in the distance terrified Avery.

She kept running for the door, so I had to take her inside a little prematurely. Maybe next year :). When it was the kids' bedtime, we got them to sleep and had some time to relax with just adults.

Sidenote- Lindsay and I both decided to make a New Year's Resolution to put an end to the bottles once and for all. They were down to one only at night, but that had to go! I'm happy to report that they disappeared during the 1st week of 2012. It's kind of a bittersweet moment. I feel like the bottle was the only thing babyish left. They are officially toddlers. I guess I need to stop calling her a baby. Tear...
We ended up having a great New Years Eve. I love making memories with our girl! We can't wait to see what this year has in store for us!
